Rita Newland
Journal of Health Visiting, Vol. 5, Iss. 11, 15 Nov 2017, pp 566

Despite being in its fourth
edition, this book has
retained some of the familiar
elements present in previous
editions. Many readers have grown
up with early editions from Mary
Sheridan and will be indebted to the
'real-world' observations that helped
health visitors begin their professional
journey with confidence. This edition is
no different. The mix of photographs
and pencil drawings will help the
reader to see, at a glance, the elements
of a child's development and the
influence this has on their play, and
dynamically apply the information
into to their practice.
